Introducing the Community Calendar: volunteer events for everyone

We’re excited to announce the Community Calendar, one place to discover all upcoming volunteer events with local nonprofits! Find it by clicking Volunteer in your sidebar on Field Day.

All volunteer opportunities found on Field Day are group-oriented, with a focus on building connection while giving back – with each other, and with your community. While Field Trips are volunteer events planned for companies and teams, community events are open to everyone.

There are lots of ways to volunteer at community events. You can:

  • Attend by yourself and meet other folks with similar values
  • Spend time with friends or family while making a positive impact
  • Teambuild with coworkers in a purposeful way

With more than 60 local nonprofits on Field Day addressing so many important causes, you’ll find plenty to do! Get out, get inspired, and broaden your perspective – volunteering makes a big impact on nonprofits, the folks they serve, and on your own wellbeing too.

If you belong to a Team, you can attend community events together – just click Volunteer as a Team. This shares the event as a Field Trip, notifying Team members and tracking the impact you make together. It’s a great way to fill a nonprofit’s immediate need, while streamlining coordination by skipping Field Trip plans altogether.

On any community event page, click "Volunteer as a Team" to share the event as a Field Trip.

The launch of the Community Calendar coincides with Volunteer Week in Portland, Oregon on April 16-22, 2023. Celebrate Volunteer Week by teaming up with local nonprofits to make our city stronger, healthier, and more vibrant – find volunteer events on the Community Calendar!
